James Barlow

Chief Executive Officer

James Barlow, an entrepreneur since his teenage years, has led one of the most innovative construction companies in the US. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of BZI Steel, a leading technology steel erection company, as well as InnovaTech, an innovative equipment manufacturing company. BZI and Innovatech systems are recognized for providing unrivaled new standards for safety, simplicity and efficiency. BZI’s patented construction equipment, innovations and exclusive unique steel erection methods have resulted in the company growing its revenue 10-fold since 2016 and growing their employee base from 80 to over 450.

James Harker

Chief Innovation Officer

James Harker is the Chief Innovation Officer at BZI Steel. He was one of the company’s first five employees when it was founded in 2006 as a farmhand erecting pole barns and pre-engineered buildings in Southern Utah and Eastern Nevada.

BZI’s success enabled James to become a foreman and then a manager leading all aspects of process development, including creating logistics and maintenance programs. He has also played a pivotal role in developing BZI’s presence in different markets and industries, including working with some of the world’s foremost retailers to build their warehouses.

Thomas Harker

Chief Operations Officer

Thomas Harker is the Chief Operations Officer at BZI. As one of the first five employees at the company, his career started as a farmhand erecting pole barns and pre-engineered buildings in his hometown of Southern Utah.

Thomas has held a variety of roles at BZI, including field hand. foreman, superintendent, and regional manager oversaw structural steel, pre-engineering, and specialty welding projects.

Currently, as COO, Thomas oversees all operations for the company. He is responsible for leading all team members and general contractors for each project, ensuring the right policies and procedures are followed to create a safe working environment while completing projects on time.

Sam Williams

Chief Operations Officer, BZI Steel Fabrication Division

Sam Williams is the Chief Operations Officer for BZI’s Steel Fabrication Division. His focus is to redefine what it means to be a full-service fabrication company by providing the best project experience for BZI’s partners through developing new technologies, collaborative partnerships, and improving design, fabrication, and erection processes.

He began his career as a tradesman working in residential construction before joining BZI in 2011 as a metal decking foreman, overseeing the installation of millions of square feet of roof and floor decking nationally. Two years later, he was promoted to project foreman, leading the completion of BZI’s steel erection projects around the country, and then regional manager before his current role of COO.

Sam was honored to join the BZI executive committee in 2016. He enjoys working with like-minded team members who share a bold vision for the future of steel construction and the modernization of the construction industry.

Roger Howard

Chief Human Resources Officer

Roger Howard is the Chief Human Resources Executive for BZI Steel, leading a team of over 800 team members committed to creating unrivaled new standards for safety, simplicity and efficiency with their patented construction equipment. He brings more than 27 years of experience in various sectors including public, private, and non-profit. He has a successful track record of drastically reducing turnover and enhancing employee performance. His mission is to nurture a culture of excellence, engagement, and empowerment that drives business performance and employee success.

Roger is passionate about leadership and employee development, helping people achieve their greater potential, and contributing to the team and the community.

Jesus Cadena

Chief Safety Officer

As the company’s Chief Safety Officer, Jesus Cadena has created policies and procedures at BZI that minimize risk and ensure the safety of the company’s team members. He is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures, overseeing all safety protocols, developing improved safety training, and analyzing what actions need to occur when incidents happen. Before he was appointed CSO, he was a Regional Safety Coordinator and a Safety Representative and has recently joined BZI’s SteelTech Academy – a unique two-week safety and construction training and continuing education program that has issued more than 4,800 certifications since 2019.

John Hollingshaus

Chief Financial Officer

John Hollingshaus brings more than 20 years of finance, operations, capital management, M&A, and supply chain management experience working for multiple Fortune 100 companies in the technology, communications, and consumer industries. He has held strategic leadership positions for such companies as Qualcomm, Micron Technology, and SanDisk. A certified (PE), he served engineering roles at Bechtel & Wright Engineers. John holds an MBA from The Wharton School.

Spencer Douglas

Marketing and Sales Officer

Spencer Douglas leads all strategic marketing and sales efforts for BZI. He brings more than 15 years of sales and business management, including manufacturing, distribution, and accounting disciplines. Before BZI, Spencer held leadership positions at Renaissance Ag, Staheli West, Inc., Hinton Burdick CPAs & Advisors, and Phil Lyman CPA. He is an active member of Rotary International and has served on several local non-profit advisory boards. Spencer holds a Master’s Degree in Accountancy and a B.S. in Accounting from Southern Utah University.

Stephen Sansom

General Counsel

Stephen Sansom serves as BZI’s General Counsel overseeing all legal aspects and initiatives of the company. He brings a successful track record of more than 18 years of both private practice and in-house legal experience. Prior to joining BZI, Stephen was a Partner at Holland & Hart, LLP where he specialized in intellectual property and commercial disputes.  Stephen also worked as Associate General Counsel for Basic Research, LLC and its affiliated entities.  Stephen received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brigham Young University and his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law.
