READ MORESpencer Douglas, Chief Marketing Officer at construction and steel company BZI, presents Dr. Jeffrey Miller, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences at Southern Utah University, a check to support the school’s SUU/BZI Youth Engineering Academy Summer Camps”. The educational program for K-12 youth provides immersive and entertaining exercises and curriculum to encourage creativity, logical thinking, and new methods of problem-solving as they are applied to the art and science of engineering. BZI will also share their real-world experience with camp attendees to pass on the innovative methods and out-of-the-box thinking that has helped BZI become a national leader in the construction industry.
Through engaging week-long sessions, participants will immerse themselves in hands-on activities designed to foster creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills within the realm of engineering. Led by experienced instructors, including BZI leaders, attendees will explore real-world applications and gain invaluable insights into the engineering profession.
James Barlow, CEO of BZI, underscores the company’s commitment to inspiring future innovators: “Innovation is one of the key pillars of our business success and offerings. Our company is pleased to have this opportunity to encourage future engineers and to foster a mindset of innovation through this new summer youth camp. We anticipate the academy, and its camps will encourage heightened levels of interest in engineering among our youth, support new breakthrough discoveries and secure more industry and life-enhancing developments in the future.”
Dr. Jeffrey Miller, Dean of SUU’s College of Engineering and Computational Sciences, expresses gratitude for BZI’s support: ” “We are thrilled to partner with BZI, which is known for its revolutionary contributions to the manufacturing, construction, and engineering industries. BZI’s support is vital to the success of our educational programs and will help cultivate the future engineering careers of numerous youth.”
The program prioritizes accessibility, striving to encourage diversity and inclusivity. In its inaugural year, the camp welcomed over 150 students, and in 2024, it aims to accommodate over 1,000 participants. Thanks to the generous contributions from BZI and other sponsors, students can enroll in the camps for just $50 for half-day sessions and $100 for full-day sessions.
