Project Bighorn

BZI was selected as a turnkey partner for the detailing, supply, fabrication, steel erection, and insulated panel scopes on this five-building hyperscale data center campus in Sparks, Nevada. The project spans over 2.5 million square feet and represents one of the largest and most complex data center builds in BZI’s history. With a fast-paced schedule and high-performance expectations, Project Bighorn leveraged BZI’s integrated Nautilus Core & Shell model to streamline delivery from detailing through installation. The result: a safer, seamless build backed by proprietary systems and proven field teams.

Challenge

This project required rapid, high-volume steel and panel delivery under difficult weather conditions and complex crane logistics. With multiple scopes being executed sequentially across the site, structural steel and insulated panels, scope overlap and coordination could have easily created costly delays and project delivery risk. The client needed a partner who could deliver integrated solutions, reduce vendor friction, and ensure safe and efficient execution at scale.

Outcome

Through BZI’s Nautilus Core & Shell delivery model, steel and panel systems were integrated under one contract, streamlining project management and accelerating delivery. BZI’s internal detailing, fabrication, and logistics resources enabled just-in-time material delivery, avoiding downtime and mitigating risks in a congested and weather-challenged site. Proprietary innovations like the WallMaster® 300 and MezzMaster® reduced field labor, improved safety, and maintained strict quality control. Several thousand truckloads of steel have been successfully delivered and installed with high precision, setting the foundation for this complex campus.
